Importance of diet in keeping our hearts healthy

Diet has an important role in maintaining an ideal body weight, body fat and normal levels of blood lipids (cholestrol). The control of these parameters helps in the prevention of obesity, diabetes, high cholestrol, and hypertension.

These disease are in turn independent diet related risk factors of heart disease. Other contributing factors are a sex of the person, family history of heart disease, stress, sedentary life style, and age.

Better food habits can reduce the risk factors like high cholestrol, hypertension and obesity. These factors and directly influenced by dietary fat, salt and calories.

Some simple precautions will help you prevent the risk of heart disease

Over weight/ovese people should reduce their body weight as it increase the risk of heart disease. Visit for Medical help

If there is a chest pain, limit the physical activities.
Avoid smoking as it is a major risk factor cardiac disease.
Limit coffee and avoid alchol.
Reduce fat intake.

Excess salt in your diet is bad for heart and hypertension
Exercise keeps you physically fit.
Avoid heavy meals. Take small and frequent meals.

Avoid red meat (mutton, Beef, Pork , Organ meat.
Avoid sweets, chocolates, ice creams, butter and bakery products (cakes, pastries, cream biscuits)
Remove skin from chicken and use lean meat.
Avoid fried non-vegetarian foods
Avoid coconut, groundnut , almond cashew, pista
Avoid butter. Gjee. Da;da. ,argaromes amd cjeese
Avoid refined and processed foods.

Foods that are important to keep you healthy, include them in your diet to stay healthy.

Cereals , Pulses (Rice Wheat, Ragi,Dhals)
Vegetables (In the form of palyas, salads etc,)
Fruits (Preferably whole fruits)
Buttermilk instead of thick curds. Skimmed milk instead of whole milk
Use blended oils (Mix 2 to 3 types of oils in which PUFA is high but limited amounts)
